I’m a little bit country

I grew up on country music. Living in Texas I think that may be a given. But my parents were both huge fans…I’m talking Marty Robbins, gentleman Jim Reeves, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Eddie Arnold, Hank Williams, and the list could on for pages. We had a very large radio/record player console. It played 78 RPM records, but it was automatic so you could stack the vinyl so it could play for hours. Of course, the radio could be used when you wanted to hear other singers. The only station I remember is WRR. Most stations were Am with FM on the horizon.

My love for country music lives on today! I must admit I like the “old” country as opposed to the “new” country/pop. While living in Nashville (a dream come true!) I did volunteer work at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The Hall is actually one large rotunda, the museum is two floors of history with rotating exhibits.

While enjoying volunteering, I learned SO much about how country music evolved from barn dance, gospel, blues An amazing story…

Music has been a part of my life since I was a child. It truly expresses what feelings sound like. So many memories are attached to certain songs in my life. I’m thankful I grew up in an era where I could identify a song and could remember where I was and with whom! There’s not much music I don’t like. As a teen I loved pop, rock and roll, and always country. I never attended a symphony until I was in college….and I loved that as well. Nashville has a great symphony and I attended with friends when I could. The music of ballet is fascinating, I even took beginner ballet lessons several years ago. Where does this love of music originate? Is it what your family listened to? Is it part of the nation where you were reared? I do know many of my fellow classmates from all those years ago feel the same.

Because of my love for music, I listen often. Because I have tinnitus, I sing songs in my head to drown out the ringing…LOL! Nope not crazy, but when its quiet, the ringing is loud so I listen to the music in my head. It’s fun, you should try it Hahahaha

  1. I’m a music lover too, every genre with taste for some more than others. It’s always playing in my car and home if the tv is not.
